hikhok! i'm in george town now! and it's been only a few hours but i'm already loving penang!

firstly, i want to write about my first time flying with malindo air. sebenarnya, i planned to naik bas, which my kawan said it's gonna take around 7-8 hours. so crazy! i've always hated naik bas for long journeys. plus my kawan said the bus will lalu kot gerik which is supposedly scary and memabukkan. haiyaaa airasia, why you no go to penang from kelantan? tiket flight mas and firefly mahal ratus2.

but alhamdulillah sangat, my sister asked me to check out malindo air and surprisingly the ticket was only rm59 (tiket bas pun dah around rm35)! not only the journey took only 40 minutes, i was also allowed to carry 15kg hand luggage for free! and i got free biscuits and drinking water on the plane! and not many people too (i think there were only 10 passengers)!

anywho, back to my first day in penang. i actually planned to take a 401/401e bus from penang airport to weld quay and take a (free) shuttle bus to my hotel in george town, but that kawan of mine (meksha) tiba2 texted me and insisted nak pick me up at the airport. dia runsing aku nak naik bas sorang2 kat penang, katanya. haha. murah betul rejeki cheq (speaking utagha gitu). alhamdulillah!

she came with her friend (min) who was actually the one driving her car to fetch me, a stranger. i felt so terhutang budi and touched. we went straight to george town and lepak at restoren kapitan. i asked aus to meet us there. we makan2 and talked and laughed at each other's stories.

it was really nice to catch up with my old friend from high school and to make a new friend. to return their kindness, i wanted to belanja them tapi belum sempat aku bertindak, min dah pergi bayar untuk kitorang.
"eh, takyoh min! takyoh! biar aku belanjo sek mung! mano boleh ginih! doh la mung pick up aku tadi", tempik aku semasa min berjalan ke kaunter cashier.
min buat dunno. dan terus bayar. haish, baik betul min ni. terima kasih! then they took us jalan2 along some streets and we took pictures of street art. they also got us a very useful map (free). when it was getting dark, we bid goodbyes to each other. but we plan to have a dinner together on monday.

luckily, i didn't have to get lost searching for our hotel since aus had checked-in there earlier. we're staying at kim sun hotel (though it's actually a motel) at 84 campbell street. we paid rm204 (rm102 per person) for 3 nights. our room is small and simple but it's very cheap (especially in george town), clean, with private bathroom, has wifi and centrally located. siap ada water heater and air-cond lagi (though the kipas is cooling enough). the staffs pun friendly. it's exactly what we want :)

for dinner, we tried the famous nasi kandar beratur (established since 1943). i had a high expectation for it. but not only it's a bit pricey, it's not that good too. i don't know why it's so popular. i wonder if it's the same case with nasi kandar line clear (another famous restaurant).

btw, we also saw a perarakan of chinese-style lori "berhias" along the streets. it's so meriah but i'm not sure what they're celebrating. my guess is, it's 'chap goh mey', which i've no idea what it is. pardon me for being ignorant about stuffs like this.
alright, it's almost 5 am. i better sleep since tomorrow will be a loooong day. i'm so excited though! good night!
