i've travelled to several countries before this. unfortunately, i didn't write about it for my own memento. besides wanting to blog about my future trips, i also plan to write about my past trips. so i've come up with something that would be a series of posts which i call as 'travel throwback'. gitu.
i'd like to start this series with my favourite trip which is in new zealand a.k.a nz. specifically, nz's south island. i was there with 4 friends for 8 days (6 - 13 november 2012). to be honest, we didn't really have a proper planning for nz (sebab everyone was busy dengan assignments). kitorang cuma sempat berbincang dan pack barang malam sebelum departure (i didn't sleep the whole night!). but everything went great. alhamdulillah!
we started our journey by flying from brisbane to christchurch (fyi, we were studying in australia, which is jiran nz).

we booked our accommodation in christchurch only after we arrived there. and we ended up at some weird cheap motel that actually looked like rumah setinggan. but for a 1 night stay, it was okay lah. fyi, nz's currency adalah nz dollar (nzd), which is slightly rendah daripada australian dollar (aud). so yay to us!

| btw, it was summer but it was freeeeezing! |
we only managed to explore christchurch by strolling around its city, yang mana sebahagian besar sudah musnah. for those who don't know, there was a massive earthquake in christchurch in 2011 killing 185 people (i googled this!). many buildings and road remained closed and destroyed. it was eye-opening and frightening to see a once beautiful and urban town in such devastating state. subhanallah.

| i love how the town still has its sense of humour. |
namun begitu, bak kata orang putih, "ada cahaya di hujung terowong". masih ada harapan untuk christchurch. gitu. during our visit, we can see the kerajaan sedang berusaha untuk rebuild bandar christchurch. and i must say, they were doing it creatively!

we spent only 2 days and 1 night in christchurch. although it was a short visit, it was nice to be able to see the rebirth of christchurch. next, we headed to queenstown, where the real excitement began!
p/s: i didn't take a lot of photos as i was busy taking videos. so i had to curik some photos from suhaimi for this post. hikhok!
