travel throwback: new zealand (part 3) -- road trip to milford sound

queenstown was a lot of fun. but our road trip to milford sound was my favourite part of the whole trip. i don't remember how long it took us to reach milford sound from queenstown but it was very long yet exciting. the scenery along the journey was spectacular. we saw thousands of sheep and more mountains on our way there. thanks to suhaimi for driving us in nz. the only bad news was we had to listen him singing non-stop! hehe.

clear sky.

sheep everywhere!

* fun fact: there are more sheep than human in nz. amazing stuff, huh?

we also stopped at several scenic spots along the way. and our first stop was at te anau, a small town with a big beautiful lake. we had our breakfast here. i still remember, it was megi goreng kurang rasa that i cooked. haha.

feeling2.

that's right. that photo on the top-right side of this blog was taken here! (credits to chiah)

then, we made a stop at eglinton valley. there's a grass field surrounded with mountains. the weather was perfect, the view was amazing and the rumput was surprisingly nice too! we literally berguling2 atas rumput tu. btw, actually there's a story pasal eglinton valley but i forgot already. hehe.

eglinton valley.

perfect weather!

feeling2 jadi biri-biri.

awwwww! wah, meng-awww-kan diri sendiri kan. lol!

next, we stopped at mirror lakes, one of the world heritage sites listed by unesco. i don't know what that means but it sounds important and all. as the name implies, we could actually see a clear reflection of the mountains on the lake's surface. so cool!

mirror, mirror on the lake. who's the prettiest of them all?

finally, we reached milford sound, also known as 'piopiotahi' in maori. haha! to get the best view, kitorang naik jucy cruize punya feri (dapat free coffee/tea!). the scenery during our ferry ride was unbelievably magnificent! and we're so lucky as we got to see the rare fur seals chilling on some rocks.

piopiotahik.

our ferry.

free coffee!

just look at that.

subhanallah, cantiknya!

seals bermalas-malasan.

* fun fact: lord of the ring also did some film shooting at milford sound.

before going back to the jetty, the ferry lalu bawah satu air terjun ni. i don't know apa tujuan dia but some of us who were not scared to get wet and cold (aku la tu salah sorang haha) fearlessly duduk kat luar feri sambil disimbahi air terjun. wahahaha. best gila!

nampak tak air terjun tu? kat bawah tu lah kitorang "mandi".

on our way back to queenstown, we stopped at the roadside to play with saki baki snow and take photos. how can we resist?

jakun tengok snow. haha.

gambar ala2 cover album band. gitu.

amboi, over kan aku siap baring2 lagi. haha.

we made one last stop at this unknown hutan. there was a stream and a jambatan gantung. the water was so blue and jernih! we even drank the water straight from the sungai. it was cold and refreshing!

* fun fact: air sungai and tasik di nz selamat diminum begitu sahaja. no need to rebus uolls!

i wonder what's on the other side. gitu.

the water was crystal blue in real life.

we didn't explore the area because it was getting dark. but we sempat had a little picnic dalam semak samun there (while getting bitten by nyamuks).

kami makan roti, nyamuk makan kami.

after makan, we drove back to our little cottage in queenstown. my next post would be about our road trip to wanaka (and everything in between)! toodles!

p/s: most photos are chiah's and suhaimi's.
